Qalamkar House Statement

Sections of the Qalamkar House of Isfahan

Inspired by the creative sky and the receptive earth, the Qalamkar House is a home fashioned with three distinct yet interconnected sections.
First, there’s a space similar to a museum, which we call the Ganj-khaneh. This is where we care for and preserve the heritage we have received.
Second, a place we named the Ostad-khaneh, where creation, production, and the teaching of both theoretical and practical skills take place. This section includes the Ghalamkar school and workshop.
Third, a space called the Timcheh is a market or bazaar. It’s a place for interested visitors to view the works created here and purchase what is produced in the workshop.

A place to collect, preserve, and document the historical artworks and motifs of Qalamkar, with the goal of keeping the visual and cultural memory of this art form alive. The Ganj-khaneh is not a passive museum; The Ganj-khaneh is not a conventional museum of passive display; it’s a dynamic space for understanding, experiencing, and reconnecting the past with the present.
